At the start of the 2019-2020 school year, the South community came together to celebrate Spirit Week, which included special themed days like pajama day, Disney day, and twin day. Each spirited day showed the South community coming together in force to celebrate the new school year. For our graduating class, the end of the week culminated in the celebration of Pep Rally, the showcasing of class banners, and school pride. There were incredible performances by our marching band, step squad, kick line, and more; all of which highlighted the truly talented students we have here at South! The senior class entertained the upperclassman with a special dance, that displayed their excitement for their final year together, and the friendships they created along the way. The senior barbeque was a chance for them to come together, new and old friends alike, and enjoy good food and great company.
Spirit week ended with our annual carnival and football game, where students, staff, and members of the community got to come together to show their Falcon pride. The carnival had sweet treats like cotton candy and lemonade, and despite the heat, students enjoyed games like ring toss and took part in face painting. At the football game, our Falcons faced off against the Island Tree Bulldogs, and saw half-time, tied. Though the team fought hard, they were defeated by the Bulldogs, but that did not put a damper on the celebratory feel of the week. Seniors went into their final year at South filled with a visceral excitement for what’s to come, and gratitude to everyone who made their time here at South, memorable!
